In a bid towards enhancing an enabling environment for the Nigerian payment system, winners have emerged from the  Nigerian Inter-bank Settlement System (NIBSS) 2018 Hackathon Challenge.

The grand finale, which held in Lagos recently saw winners going home with N1 million, N2 million and N3 million for the 3rd, 2nd and 1stPrize respectively.
The Executive Director, NIBSS, Mrs. Christabel Onyejekwe who represented the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ade Shonubi stated that NIBSS is committed to advancing the payment system structure especially the adoption and application of the globally accepted biometrics technology to ensure a greater drive of financial inclusion and in response to the clamor of customers in the country.
She explained that the end results of the challenge if utilized would bring about greater ease in the conduct of business at all levels in the Nigerian ecosystem .

Mrs. Christabel Onyejekwe pointed out at the event which saw winners emerge after developing various software, that the initiative would make payments and fund transfers for both the banked and the unbanked relatively easy and seamless .
The focus according to her, is on authentication, identification and validation with finger prints due to global adoption of biometrics as a means of accurate identification and accountability in payments .
Furthermore, she said that the use of biometrics will bring about a friendly system, ease, convenience and versatility in the sector.

Mrs. Christabel Onyejekwe maintained that the objective is to address unemployment and promote entrepreneurship through the discovery of local talents who will develop software or Apps that would identify and implement different fingerprint authentication, validation and payment innovations using fingerprints. It is also to promote valuable collaboration with banks, fintechs and other stakeholders.

The programme was managed by Africa’s leading and award winning information value chain consulting, GRC and Project management firm, Digital Jewels Nigeria Ltd At the final pitch which saw different teams competing for the coveted prize, Team TechVault ,Team Petram and Team PayBeans won first, second and third positions respectively out of the thirteen groups that participated in the challenge.

The Videographer/Editor is responsible for capturing visual content and editing videos for multiple platforms.

Roles & Responsibilities


  • Generating creative visual content through filming, editing, directing, producing, editing, coloring, and compression for multiple platforms (including live streaming).
  • Engaging in conceptual programming for multiple systems (including live streaming).
  • Identifying opportunities to create and re-purpose content to create engaging information for multiple platforms.
  • Consult with stakeholders from production to post-production process.
  • Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency.
  • Researching, scheduling, filming, editing, and archiving.
  • Coordinate video shoots including setting up and operating in-house equipment.
  • Review shooting scripts and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity.
  • Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the video.
  • Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects.
  • Color correction, balancing audio, timing, pacing.
  • Create rough cuts and final cuts.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in videography, photography, graphic design or related degree and/or equivalent years of experience.
  • Computer literacy required, including MacOS, PC, and mobile technologies.
  • Videography, non-linear editing experience, live streaming.
  • Understanding of photo and video cameras, lenses and accessories.
  • Hands-on videography, video editing, motion graphics, color correction, illustrations, interviewing and content creation experience.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere and After Effects)

Under direct supervision, safely maintains cementing bulk equipment and the bulk plant. Responsible for pulling bulk equipment to be loaded and used at wellsite. Learns and applies all applicable HMS processes to properly load bulk materials and interacts with the lab.

Assists in loading bulk chemicals for jobs. Learns to calculate load out sheets and how to safely and accurately operate the Accublend at the bulk plant. This is an entry level position and requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-1 years of experience of material handling or cementing operations.

Must be able to learn and apply all applicable HSE policies and procedures and demonstrate their application into his/her duties. The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is required. Basic reading comprehension, communication skills, and writing skills are required. Basic computer skills are preferred.
